Cambridge Stoneware Company, LLC. is a pottery company owned by Jim Rowe. His first studio was established in Whitewater, Wisconsin in 1972. Rowe moved to Cambridge, Wisconsin in 1975 and founded Rowe Pottery Works. Sales at the time were made through art fairs and the studio showroom store. Jim made the pottery and fired the brick kiln behind the workshop on Main Street.
In 1981, the pottery evolved from it's original style to making authentic traditional American salt glaze pottery crocks, jugs, jars and bowls. Rowe's innovative effort at reviving the historic Americana salt glaze pottery of the 1800's soon became popular with pottery collectors throughout the United States.
From the late 1980's and through the 1990's licensed collections were produced for museums including The Museum of American Folk Art®,Ny,Ny., The Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Collection®, The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation® and Old Salem Village®. Pottery collections were also developed with furniture designers Lynn Hollyn and Bob Timberlake and furniture companies Ethan Allen® and Lane®.
In January of 2004 Jim sold Rowe Pottery Works, Inc. Today, while no longer associated with Rowe Pottery, J.Rowe continues to design and create new stoneware pottery collections in his new company, Cambridge Stoneware Company, LLC
